Group challenges Montana’s tobacco tax initiative
A political action committee against tax increases is asking the Montana Supreme Court to check the math on a ballot initiative that would increase taxes on tobacco products for the state’s Medicaid program.
Charles Denowh, treasurer for Montanans Against Tax Hikes, filed the petition with the state’s high court on Monday, alleging that the initiative’s wording could confuse voters and does not meet state requirements.
