Greater Helena Gives falls short of goal, but still time to make donation

The Greater Helena Gives 24-hour online giving campaign reported $261,604 raised from 1,222 donors by 4 p.m. Friday, short of its $300,000 goal, but sponsors said people will have until noon Monday to make donations to the online fundraiser that is aiding 111 local nonprofits.

Donations can be made at www.greaterhelenagives.org, or via check by contacting the offices of the Helena Area Community Foundation, the event’s sponsor, at 406-441-4955.

Organizers said that as of 8 p.m. Thursday, $246,517 was raised by 1,152 donors. The 24-hour fundraiser, now in its 10th year, ran 8 p.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Thursday, but organizers traditionally collect funds through the weekend.

“This was a record-breaking year for Greater Helena Gives in terms of nonprofits participating (the previous record was 110), but marked the first decrease in funding raised since 2019,” said Emily Frazier, executive director of the Helena Area Community Foundation, which sponsors the event.
