GoFundMe page set up to help Helena boy who needs liver transplant

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help a 3-year-old Helena boy who’s suffering from a rare liver condition and needs a transplant.

Nico Cicero has Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, which is found in less than 2 of every 100,000 children. This disease has caused Nico’s liver to fail.

Nico’s parents started a GoFundMe asking the community for help with the costs of traveling back and forth to Colorado, where Nico needs to get his treatment, as well as to help with the medical costs themselves.

In three days more than 400 people have contributed $65,000 toward the $75,000 goal.

“We are just beginning our journey but can expect another week in Colorado for an evaluation to get on the liver transplant list and then anywhere from 1 to 2 months in Colorado for the transplant itself and recovery,” the family wrote. “This will be followed by a lifetime of medication and medical follow ups.
