Montana’s sitting governor has amassed nearly three times the funds of his leading Democratic opponent in recent months.
Republican Governor Greg Gianforte and Lt. Gov. Kristen Juras have collectively raised approximately $1.2 million in the first quarter of this year since announcing their bid for re-election. Meanwhile, Democrat Ryan Busse and his running mate, Raph Graybill, have garnered around $417,000 during the same period.
Busse, a gun control activist and author, has raised nearly $900,000 in total since launching his campaign last September. Busse’s campaign has spent most of the money its raised, reporting having only $327,446 cash on hand. Gianforte reported more than $1,1 Million on hand.
Gianforte faces a challenge within the GOP primary from Tanner Smith, who is running alongside Public Service Commissioner Randy Pinocci. Together, they have reported raising about $60,000 in the initial months of the year.
