Community Briefs: Downtown cleanup, nurses honored, Bair family discussed and more

Our Place Peer volunteers recently joined Helena parks and recreation staff in cleaning up of the “Triangle” in downtown Helena prior to Friday’s Vigilante Parade. The group had earlier cleaned up a tunnel. “Our Place Peers and staff felt wonderful about giving back and decided to continue to help in areas needing cleaning up around down town Helena,” Our Place officials said, adding members of the recovery group decided to clean up the triangle prior to the parade. “We enjoyed doing our part and hope everybody enjoys the wonderful view,” Our Place officials said. “We look forward to doing our next project soon.”

Our Place Montana VA to honor nurses

The Montana VA Health Care System will honor its many nurses throughout May in recognition of National Nurses Month, featuring the theme of “Advancing Nursing and Transforming Healthcare.”

“Despite the many challenges in their work, the nurses at the Montana VA serve selflessly and with joy,” said Duane Gill, Montana VA’s interim executive director and Navy veteran. “I am proud of all 549 Montana VA nurses, and I encourage everyone to show their appreciation for these incredible people throughout the month.”
