Trash to treasure: Artists make colorful use of dumpsters in Helena

Artists in Helena were commissioned by the city to turn traditional rusted green and brown dumpsters into works of art.

The five artists through the Helena Public Art Committee were offered an opportunity to make their visions a reality. The art projects will be moved to their homes on Monday.

All five artists work on their pieces before the dumpsters are moved to their new homes in Helena.

The ideas were pretty open, according to Emily Jacobson, supporter of the project. Jacobsen said as long as the ideas were not offensive or branded, artists were free to do what they want.

Paint is sprawled all over the workspaces of the five artists as they create their pieces on May 4.
