Stewart Harris Announces Bid for Montana House District 50

Billings businessman Stewart Harris recently announced that he will run as a Republican for House District 50, a seat currently held by Rep. Anthony Nicastro, who is not seeking re-election.

Harris grew up in Billings and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy before serving as an officer in the Air Force. He returned to Montana to begin a career in finance and, for the past several years, has held leadership roles at Yellowstone Bank.

Rep. Nicastro, a Republican first elected in 2024, confirmed earlier this fall that he would not seek another term. His decision opens one of Billings’ safe Republican legislative seats.

According to his campaign, Harris plans to center his run on three core priorities: Fiscal Responsibility, emphasizing the need for leaders who keep a close eye on state spending and protect taxpayers; Service First, calling for accountability within state agencies and restoring a customer-service mindset in government; and Responsible Development, advocating for natural resource development to bring well-paid jobs and affordable, reliable energy to Montana families.

Candidate filing for Montana’s 2025 legislative races opens in January.
