State senator apologizes for comments about cars towed during farmers market
A state senator has apologized on social media for comments she made in August about a downtown Helena business after vehicles had been towed off its property for parking there during a Saturday farmers market.
“It was not my intention to hurt the business when I called it out in my post about cars being towed,” Sen. Mary Ann Dunwell, D-Helena, posted late Tuesday on Facebook about the Aug. 17 incident at Livery Square, where Wells Wellness and some other businesses are located. She said at the time she would not patronize the business.
“I would not want to hurt a small business, especially one about wellness,” she continued. “I should’ve just alerted folks about the towing happening and not mention the business. My total bad.”
“Please know, I’m not posting this for any reason other than that posting has weighed on my conscience and I feel badly,” Dunwell wrote Tuesday. “I take back my comment about my not patronizing the business. In fact, I’ve checked out the website and Wells Wellness services sound wonderful.”
