Lewis and Clark County OKs $197,200 contract for Lake Helena Improvement Project

The Lewis and Clark County commissioners have approved a professional services contract with Helena-based Great West Engineering for $197,200 for improvements to Lake Helena Drive.

The phase one contract for the Lake Helena Improvement Project was approved 3-0 at the commission’s April 23 meeting. The work is to be completed by April 30, 2025, according to the contract.

In December 2023, the county approved a request from public works for design approval for improvements to Lake Helena Drive, county engineer Dan Karlin said. It will be 2.9 miles in improvements starting at Deal Lane and continue to Lincoln Road to the existing asphalt pavement and end near the Causeway Chalet.

Road reconstruction will be from Deal Lane to the end of the Causeway Bridge, 1.9 miles, and minor changes may need to be made for widening and minimizing right-of-way acquisition.
