Governor Gianforte meets with fire officials as Sharrott Creek fire near Stevensville grows
Evacuation orders remain in effect on the lightning-caused Sharrott Creek fire as the blaze continues to grow one mile west of Stevensville.
Wind gusts driven by an incoming cold front caused the Sharrott Creek fire to flare up on Tuesday night just as around 100 area residents gathered at Stevensville High School gym for a community meeting with fire and law enforcement officials. The blaze moved east and over a containment line Tuesday night, though no structures were damaged according to the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office.
