250-home subdivision planned for East Missoula

Big changes are underway in East Missoula as housing and development pressures expand beyond the urban core of the city.

A subdivision with a total of around 250 new homes is planned for a large swath of land next to the Clark Fork River, a three-story multifamily housing complex is under construction near the Ole’s Country Store Conoco, and the old Sinclair gas station and convenience store on Highway 200 has been demolished to make way for a new Cenex gas station and store.

The Aspire Subdivision in East Missoula is proposed for about 35 acres of land next to the river north of Interstate 90, which has been primarily used for hay production and livestock grazing. The land currently hosts a few single-family homes.

The subdivision has been in the works for a few years. It is being proposed by a company called DeNova Northwest, a California-based housing development company that lists offices in Montana. The owner of the land is listed as Meadow Creek Group LLC, based in California. (That same company also purchased the 30-acre former Lolo School building site in Lolo, with plans for a housing development.)
