The application period for the second round of refunds opened Thursday and runs through Oct. 1.

Taxpayers can file a claim online at getmyrebate.mt.gov or mail in a paper application. They’ll need their social security number and the property’s geocode, which can be found by going to the state parcels website Montana Cadastral, putting in the county and searching the owner’s name.

The Property Tax Task Force held its first meeting in the Montana State Capitol on Feb. 14.

THOM BRIDGE, Independent Record

To qualify for a refund, a taxpayer must have owned and lived in the residence for at least seven months in 2023 and paid property taxes on it.
