Helena Food Share gets $500,000 grant from M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust

Helena Food Share recently received a $500,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to help with the construction of its new Community Food Resource Center.

Helena Food Share is moving forward with their new 20,000-plus-square-foot Community Food Resource Center at 1280 Boulder Ave., bringing all services under one roof.

These funds bring Helena Food Share to 97% of its campaign goal, setting the groundwork for the campaign’s capstone phase, officials said.

Helena Food Share is working with other foundations, businesses donors and community members to raise the final $600,000 to complete the $12 million campaign, they said. Helena Food Share is moving forward with their new 20,000-plus-square-foot building at 1280 Boulder Ave., bringing all services under one roof.

Executive Director Bruce Day said in a news release the nonprofit is extremely grateful to the Murdock trust for this investment. He noted the trust has helped other Helena-area groups dealing with arts, education and social needs.
