Harris hires a new comms director, Jamal Simmons
Jamal Simmons, a veteran communications aide in Democratic circles, has been tapped to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ communications director, a White House official has confirmed.
An announcement is expected Thursday, according to the official. An official start date is unclear.
The move comes after the top two aides in Harris’ press and communications operation, Symone Sanders and Ashley Etienne, left the office in December. The vice president’s office has begun retooling after a year filled with scrutiny on Harris that neither the White House or her office were really prepared for, officials have acknowledged.
