Grandstreet Theatre releases statement after attendees allegedly harass Black actors

Grandstreet Theatre is calling for community betterment after show attendees allegedly harassed Black actors and used a racist slur.

“We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the insensitive behavior exhibited by some members of our community towards our visiting actors who have come here to share their talents,” Grandstreet Theatre said in a Monday social media post.

Grandstreet Theatre hosts eight mainstage productions a year and multiple theater classes for kids K-12.

The harassment has happened multiple times over the summer, Grandstreet Theatre said.
