First responders, victims of 9/11 honored at state Capitol
A memorial ceremony to honor the first responders and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks took place Wednesday at the Montana State Capitol.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed Sept. 11, 2001, when al-Qaida hijackers crashed four jetliners into the twin towers, the Pentagon and a field in southwest Pennsylvania.
Former FDNY firefighter and 9/11 responder Kevin Shea told his story of responding the site of the World Trade Center collapse. Other speakers included Attorney General Austin Knudsen and Helena Fire Chief Jon Campbell.
The observance was capped off with a bell ringing ceremony and bagpiper playing “Amazing Grace.”
