Burgum appoints Greg Hoffman to serve as chief information officer
Governor Doug Burgum has appointed Greg Hoffman to serve as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) department, effective immediately. Hoffman, recognized for his extensive leadership within the agency, steps into the role following his tenure as interim CIO since June 1, succeeding Kuldip Mohanty.
With a career spanning nearly two decades at NDIT, Hoffman previously held positions including Deputy CIO and head of the Administrative Services Division. His journey with the agency began in 2005 as the first budget/rate analyst.
Governor Burgum expressed confidence in Hoffman’s capabilities, citing his deep understanding of NDIT’s operations and commitment to exceptional customer service. “Greg collaborates effectively with agency partners to implement technology solutions that best serve North Dakota citizens,” Burgum remarked. He highlighted the importance of Hoffman’s leadership in advancing NDIT’s strategic priorities, including the integration of AI, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and maintaining robust data protection standards.
Hoffman, a graduate of the University of Mary with bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration, as well as an MBA, emphasized the honor and responsibility of his new role. “I am committed to continuing our momentum in customer service, advancing technology innovations such as AI, and bolstering our cybersecurity efforts,” Hoffman stated. He underscored the agency’s dedication to leveraging technology to efficiently meet the needs of North Dakotans while safeguarding their data.
NDIT plays a crucial role in supporting over 250,000 North Dakotans daily through its comprehensive technology services, encompassing cybersecurity, network infrastructure, and application development among others. The department operates with a significant $275 million budget and oversees projects totaling over $500 million, managed by approximately 500 team members across multiple divisions.
As CIO, Hoffman will provide strategic direction for NDIT, serving as a key member of Governor Burgum’s cabinet.
Hoffman’s appointment underscores NDIT’s commitment to excellence in technology service delivery and strategic leadership under Governor Burgum’s administration.
