Boise food safety a priority after coronavirus outbreaks in Idaho plants

Coronavirus cases are spiking in the food and meat processing plants of Jerome and Burley.

Both plants are in rural areas, but what they process ends up in major cities, including Boise. That caught Boise Mayor Lauren McLean’s attention.

“We talk regularly with Central District Health about the status of COVID in our own community and county,” McLean said. “I would say that the outbreaks that we’re seeing now in meatpacking plants and others point to the importance of testing and tracing.”
