Attorney General Jackley Congratulates 36 New South Dakota Officers
PIERRE, S.D. — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley congratulated 36 recruits who graduated Friday from the state’s Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course in Pierre, marking the completion of the 201st class in the program’s history.
The graduates represented 19 different state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies from across South Dakota. To earn certification, each recruit completed 520 hours of coursework over 13 weeks covering instruction in the law, arrest control tactics, firearms, vehicle handling, and criminal investigations. The training program is taught by full-time staff from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and adjunct instructors from agencies statewide.
Jackley served as the keynote speaker at Friday’s graduation ceremony, held at the Larkspur Landing Event Center in Pierre. He praised the graduates and their families for answering the call to serve, acknowledging the challenges of a profession he described as essential to the protection of South Dakota’s citizens and communities.
