Tulsi Gabbard’s ‘present’ vote on impeachment draws sharp criticism from AOC

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) was the only member of Congress to vote neither “yea” nor “nay” on both impeachment articles during Wednesday night’s vote in the House of Representatives.

Gabbard voted “present.”

“I could not in good conscience vote against impeachment because I believe President Trump is guilty of wrongdoing,” the congresswoman said in a video on Twitter. “I also could not in good conscience vote for impeachment because removal of a sitting President must not be the culmination of a partisan process, fueled by tribal animosities that have so gravely divided our country.”
