South Dakota received $47 million to help schools during the pandemic. Here’s where it’s going.
As part of South Dakota’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, the state has added $47 million to its K-12 budget for the coming school year and part of the next following school year, too.
The funding comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act, a federal relief package focused on protecting the U.S. from the public health and economic impact of the pandemic that was signed into law in March. Only recently, though, are South Dakotans beginning to learn what those funds will go toward.
