Daines Applauds DOI Move to Restore Multiple-Use, Boost Montana Timber Sales

.S. Senator Steve Daines praised the U.S. Department of the Interior’s (DOI) recent proposals to rescind the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Public Lands Rule and restore multiple-use land management, along with actions to increase timber sales in Montana.

“President Trump and Secretary Burgum are bringing back commonsense land management policies that will benefit Montana farmers, ranchers, and producers,” Daines said. “The harmful Public Lands Rule would have blocked access to public lands for outdoor recreation and restricted energy production, grazing, and forest management. By rescinding the rule and unlocking more timber sales, we’ll be better able to manage our forests and prevent catastrophic wildfires. President Trump is committed to Treasure State priorities, and this is welcome news.”

The DOI’s proposal aims to expand public land access while supporting sustainable resource management, including forestry, energy, and agricultural use.
