Candidates for treasurer have history of financial problems
The two candidates running for Gallatin County treasurer in November’s election have had financial troubles in the past, documents show.
Kimberly Buchanan, Republican county treasurer, has unpaid income taxes to the IRS from 2005 totaling about $87,600. The IRS filed a lien against her with the Gallatin County clerk and recorder’s office in 2014.
Jennifer Blossom, county auditor and Democrat challenging Buchanan for the treasurer position, filed bankruptcy in 1999 and had a state tax lien filed against her in January 2003 for $318. Blossom’s bankruptcy case was closed in 2000 and the lien was settled a month after it was filed.
