Bozeman man dies in motorcycle crash near Ringling

A 55-year-old Bozeman man died when the motorcycle he was riding left the roadway, struck a delineator and threw him off the bike near Ringling, authorities said.

The Meagher County crash was reported at 3:17 p.m. Sept. 7 on U.S. Highway 89 at mile marker 40, the Montana Highway Patrol said.

The man was southbound when the motorcycle crossed the centerline and ran off the road to the left. It struck a delineator, overturned and rolled down a hill, officials said.

The rider was tossed from the motorcycle and suffered head and neck injuries, authorities said. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Alcohol and speed are suspected, the MHP said. Road conditions were clear and dry.
