14-year-old boy arrested after threat made to Helena High School, police say

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after a threat was made to Helena High School, police said.

Earlier in the day, the school was put under a “Shelter in Place” as a precautionary measure due to a threat made to the school via social media, Helena Public Schools district officials said.

Helena police said Wednesday that officers received a report Tuesday of a person making threats toward Helena High School and met with the person. Another threat was received Wednesday morning related to the previous threat, authorities said. Wednesday morning’s threat was posted on the social media platform SnapChat, school district officials said.

The boy who made the threat was arrested for intimidation, Helena police said, and has been transported to a juvenile detention facility.

Officers are still investigating but are not aware of any other active threats toward the schools.
