A 3D mammography event is set to be held at Spectra Health on Feb. 20.
Grand Forks Public Health and Women’s Way are partnering with Spectra Health to hold the event, the first of its kind in Grand Forks. The Women’s Way program provides a way to pay for most breast cancer screenings for eligible North Dakotans. Screenings will be held every half hour from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Spectra Health, 212 S. Fourth St.
“Events like this are fantastic because women from all over come together to be proactive about their health,” s Women’s Way coordinator Tiffany Boespflug. “It helps create this sense of solidarity.”
According to Women’s Way, 3D mammograms allow for more precise detection of tumors and lead to fewer false alarms.
“With 3D mammograms, the radiologist who looks at the mammogram is able to get a better look at the breast and diagnose more accurately,” said Boespflug.
North Dakota women ages 40 to 64 who are able to meet income guidelines, and are either uninsured or underinsured may be eligible for assistance.
