UPDATED: Hamilton man killed in plane crash

A Hamilton man was killed in an airplane crash Tuesday morning near the Ravalli County Airport in Hamilton.
The pilot was the sole occupant of the plane according to Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton. Initial information indicates the crash occurred during or shortly after the plane took off from the airport. The pilot was deceased when first responders arrived on the scene. His name is being withheld at this time while law enforcement notify next of kin.
The Ravalli County Sheriff’s office released a statement at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday morning that they are investigating the crash. The FAA and NTSB have been notified and will determine the cause of the crash.
Hamilton and Corvallis Volunteer Fire responded to the scene. Emergency crews were visible from the Daly Mansion along the Eastside Highway. Crews could be seen using water from the nearby Stock Farm pond to spray on the wreckage site.

The Ravalli County Airport is located at 203 Airport Road in Hamilton, approximately 1 mile east of the downtown business district.
