Growing up in Darby, 16-year-old Devyn Hundley has been around rodeo pretty much all of his life. His dad, Josh Hundley, and his uncle, Kenny Beall, were both in rodeo, and whether it was sheep, steers or bulls, from the time he was little, Devyn knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps.
“That’s been his dream since he was two,” said his mom, Amy Hundley, at the Darby Rodeo Arena on Wednesday. “This is where it all happened. He started riding when he was six, and we just love supporting him. This is what he wants to do, and we push him to do it.”
Hundley recently retained his title as Montana High School Rodeo Association Bull Riding Champion at the High School Rodeo State Finals, June 5-10 in Great Falls, scoring 73 on his Thursday ride, and a 64 on Friday.
“This year was a little bit different,” Devyn Hundley said. “Last year, I was coming into state fourth. So I kind of had to work for it. This year, I came into state at first. So it’s a little bit of pressure.”
