Throw in some mechanical problems on the team charter and the fact that the Twins have a doubleheader schedule scheduled for Tuesday, and it’s even worse — not that the Twins are complaining.
“We love baseball, so we’ll take any game we can,” Baldelli said. “We love showing up to the ballpark, even if it’s a one-day trip with a little bit of plane trouble mixed in and showing up later than normal. In all honesty, you kind of have to embrace everything that comes your way when you have these things come up.”
Embracing everything means even the plane troubles, which forced the team to change aircrafts in the process — not ideal by any measure, though much better than flying on a plane with mechanical issues.
The Twins didn’t make it to their hotel until around 1:30 a.m. ahead of a Monday day game that began at 1:10 p.m. They originally were scheduled to make it there around 9:45 p.m. or so.
Monday’s makeup game marked the second time in as many weeks that the Twins had to take a scheduled off day during the middle of a homestand
