A woman who asked to remain anonymous stands outside her tent, looking over Bozeman Pond, at sunset on Sept. 13. About a dozen people without housing have found a summer home on the northeast side of the pond where housing costs have soared in recent years.

Joedaniels Jiminez, left, and Joshua, who declined to provide his last name for publication, hang out near their tents on Bozeman Pond in Bozeman, Mont., as a family of ducks walks past on Sept. 16. When Jimenez found himself without a place to stay this summer, HRDC had him reach out to Joshua as a liaison for community living at the pond.
