Runners hit the street in 8th annual Helena Sun Run

The 8th annual Sun Run was held Saturday in Helena.

There were 188 runners registered Saturday for the eighth annual Helena Sun Run, which aimed to finish up fundraising for a 60-kilowatt solar array on Bryant Elementary School.

The 8th annual Sun Run was held Saturday in Helena. This year’s race funds will benefit Bryant Elementary School. Youths who outran the person in the goofy sun costume were recognized after the race.

The funds raised by the event at Central School, through business contributions, pledges and registration fees, are packaged with a Universal System Benefits grant from NorthWestern Energy.

This year, kids had the fun of the “Can you outrun the sun?” part of the 1-mile and 5K events. Youths who outrun the person in the goofy sun costume get their names announced and recognized after the race.
