“We just got things done up front on both sides of the football,” Thunder head coach Darrin Byklum said.
Byklum’s group scored 41 consecutive points in the first half before relenting to the Rebels with 4:17 left in the third quarter. The efficiency of the offense was the main standout as quarterback Isaac Zavoral was as perfect as one can be, throwing three touchdowns on three pass attempts for 164 yards.
“Offensively Zavoral had a big game for us throwing the football and leading the offense,” Byklum said. “Sam Gapp had a very good night running the ball and also leading on the defense. Terrific senior leadership between the two of them.”
Gapp, who had four rushes for 85 yards and a touchdown, was only used sparingly on the offensive side of the football because of that efficiency.
All of the Thunder touchdowns came before the fourth play of each drive, including his 25-yard run that was the first play of the drive after grabbing an interception to bring the offense onto the field.
