Man seriously injured running through traffic on Highway 12

A 29-year-old Helena man was seriously injured when he reportedly ran in and out of traffic and was hit by a truck, police said.
Helena police received a call around 2:20 p.m. Sunday about a man running through traffic on U.S. Highway 12 east of Helena near Elaine Street. While en route police were advised he was hit by a vehicle, which turned out to be a truck.
The man, who lives in a pre-release center, suffered serious bodily injury. He was treated at St. Peter’s Health with life-threatening injuries. He was then flown to Benefis Health System in Great Falls, where he is expected to survive, police said.
There were no other injuries, police said. No one was cited. The incident is still under investigation. The man’s name was not released.
The Helena police and fire departments responded, as well as the Montana Highway Patrol.
