‘Just for the Helena of It’ run Sunday to benefit Friendship Center

The Treasure State Runners will host more than 500 participants at the second annual Just for the Helena of It race on Sunday to benefit The Friendship Center.

The Treasure State Runners, a newly founded nonprofit made up of four local women and running partners, is dedicated to supporting the Helena community and sharing their love of running.

“Our goal is to embrace our passion and do something exceptional with it,” co-founder Jo Hawkins said in a news release.

All profits from the race will benefit The Friendship Center, a local nonprofit agency whose mission is to serve those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

This year, runners will descend on the Queen City from 13 states and two Canadian provinces, including a runner from Tennessee who used the opportunity to raise money for The Friendship Center on a GoFundMe page.

As of today, the GoFundMe effort has raised more than $2,700. Last year the race raised $17,000 for The Friendship Center.
