It was a different story on Friday.
H-CV’s overpowering offense lit up the scoreboard in all four quarters to topple Northern Cass 42-0. The Burros celebrated the homecoming win with fireworks, though they put on their own spectacle offensively during the Class 11B, North-East region matchup.
“It was a little bit more fun,” Burros head coach Scott Olsen said of his team’s six-touchdown performance. “We want to reach our goals and be region champs and being 1-0 now against these guys, it helps us with that goal.”
The Burros relied on their classic option offense that has given plenty of defenses fits over the years to notch their first shutout victory of the season. The goose egg on the scoreboard was a pleasant sight for Olsen, who said his team had been giving up too many points.
“Our last three games, we hadn’t played very well on defense,” Olsen said. “We’ve had years where we haven’t given up 20 points and we did it three games in a row. So we challenged them, and they showed up today.”
