Helena nonprofits benefit from record Washington Foundation holiday giving

Two Helena nonprofits received donations from the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation’s Holiday Giving Program totaling $15,000.

Helena Food Share received $10,000, according to Executive Director Bruce Day, to help cover expenses for the organization’s annual holiday food boxes.

The Salvation Army Helena received $5,000 to help fund its Holiday Angel Tree program, which provides new winter children’s clothing to local families in need.

“The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation has been a consistent support of organizations like ours,” Day said in an interview Tuesday. “We’re just so appreciative of the funding they’re able to give. It helps so much to ensure we’re here and able to provide this service for the community.”
