HBO released the trailer for “House of the Dragon” Wednesday, and the internet is stoked about the number of dragons.
The best network for epic television, HBO, spent years searching for a replacement — sorry — successor to “Game of Thrones” (GoT) before settling on a spin-off series about dragons and Targaryen kings, according to the Hollywood Reporter (THR). Touted as an original series by the network, the vibe of the trailer is much the same as the GoT series.

“The main characters are two women and two men. There’s the king (Viserys), his brother (Daemon), the king’s daughter (Rhaenyra) and her best friend (Alicent). Then the best friend becomes the king’s wife and thereby the queen,” showrunner Miguel Sapochnik told THR. “That in itself is complicated — when your best friend goes and marries your dad. But from the tiniest things, it slowly evolves this gigantic battle between two sides.”
While it doesn’t appear that Emilia Clarke will reprise her role of “Khaleesi” in the spin-off series, her wrath is being channeled by Matt Smith, who portrays Daemon
