Before I had kids, I never wanted kids. It wasn’t something I would even entertain, it was just a fact. A lot of single men had the same attitude, at least the ones I hung out with – we wanted nothing to do with kids. Children were seen as the end of something, not the beginning. No more going out drinking with your friends, no more fun. I don’t know about you, but when I was young and dumb I really leaned into the dumb part.
Now that I have 2 kids, ages 3 and 4, I can’t imagine life without them. If money and time were no object (and my wife were game), I’d have 10 more. The old me would look in horror at where I am now, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I had that fun, a lot of that fun, for a long time. This fun, the fun of having kids, is different and, in many ways,
