Butte man dies from injuries received in collision

A Butte man died Sunday from injuries he received Friday when two trucks collided near Butte.

Driving on Montana Highway 2, the 60-year-old victim and his 70-year-old passenger, also from Butte, were headed east in a GMC Canyon just before 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Highway Patrol said. A Ford F-150 heading west and reportedly traveling too fast crossed the center line near Harding Way, hitting the GMC.

The Ford truck, driven by a 30-year-old man from Sheridan, then spun around, leaving the roadway and ultimately ending up in a ditch. At the point of impact, the GMC remained in the eastbound lane.

None of the men were reportedly wearing seat belts.

The victim died at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. His passenger was transported to St. James Healthcare in Butte and the Sheridan man is a patient at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
