7 cited after sit-in, protest at Montana GOP office in Missoula

MISSOULA – Seven people protesting the Senate vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh were cited after occupying the Montana GOP office on Friday afternoon.

Protesters with the Western Montana Democratic Socialists of America arrived around 2 p.m., sat down in the office and refused to leave.

Meanwhile, several other protesters stood outside waving signs against Judge Brett Kavanaugh and banners reading “Believe Survivors.”

One GOP staffer who asked not to be named said the protest disrupted their workday and they had to shut down work early.

One protester, Rebecca Weston, works with progressive nonprofit Missoula Rises. She said the event was an impromptu effort to speak against Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court, which is anticipated Saturday.
