5 things you might've missed in South Dakota's 20-13 win over UND

1. UND’s starting nose guard injured

UND starting nose guard Jalen Morrison was injured in the first half against South Dakota and didn’t return. After the game, Morrison had his leg wrapped and was on crutches.

The Fighting Hawks started the second half with backup Chandon Pierre at nose guard.

Morrison, a 6-foot-2, 290-pound senior, entered the game with seven tackles this season.

Pierre finished the game with five tackles.

2. USD’s kicker nailed a 54-yard field goal

South Dakota kicker Mason Lorber drilled a 54-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.

The kick gave the Coyotes a 20-10 lead and easily had the distance. UND cornerback Evan Holm was in the back of the end zone in case Lorber’s kick came up short.

Lorber’s 54-yarder tied a school record for South Dakota.

The senior has made eight straight kicks after missing at Kansas to start the year.

3. UND holds out Maag and Navratil, doesn’t travel Stage

When UND came out for warm-ups, there was one surprise among those not participating.
