A 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with DUI in a crash early Thursday morning, Nov. 25.
The 16-year-old juvenile was driving a 2019 Toyota Rav4 at 4:20 a.m. northbound on North Dakota Highway 57 about 6 miles south of Devils Lake, North Dakota, according to an accident report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. There were two passengers in the car — a 13-year-old female and Kelen McKay, an 18-year-old man from Minnetonka, Minnesota.
The NDHP said the juvenile driving the vehicle lost control and crashed it into the east ditch, where it overturned and came to rest on its roof in several inches of standing water. According to the NDHP report, all three occupants were not wearing seatbelts. The 16-year-old driver and Kelan McKay sustained serious injuries, while the 13-year-old sustained minor injuries. All three were transported to St. Alexius Health Center in Devils Lake by ambulance.
